About Pastor Dave Weaver

Dave Weaver, a local pastor under appointment by the Bishop of the West Ohio Annual Conference, became the pastor at Nast-Trinity United Methodist Church on July 1, 2008.  Serving this congregation and community presents a great opportunity for Dave to use his gifts in ministry and his passion for community service in a diverse inner-city setting.

Dave grew up in Northern Kentucky, spending part of his childhood in the housing projects.  He worked as a self-employed grocer for twenty-one years, including six years in Over-the-Rhine and fifteen years in the Avondale area of Cincinnati.  After many years in business, Dave responded to the call of God, sold his grocery store in 1998, acquired a local pastor’s license, and went off to seminary at the age of forty-seven.  He completed his Course of Study work at Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 2005 and a business degree program from Indiana Wesleyan University in July 2008.

Prior to coming to Nast Trinity church, Dave was the Community Service Pastor at Hyde Park Community UMC for ten years.  He brings a myriad of pastoral leadership skills and outreach experiences into this new congregational setting:  preaching, diverse worship styles, team building, pastoral care, counseling and conflict resolution, a huge mission-heart, and loving spirit.

Dave and his wife Diane, who is a manager in clinical research, are very excited about the existing ministry and the future potential ministries at Nast-Trinity.  Dave’s family in Cincinnati includes daughter Ashley, who works at General Electric Credit Union in business development, his mother, sisters, nieces and nephews.

In everything that he does, Dave demonstrates a compassionate heart for all God’s people. As a pastor and administrator, he understands the changing needs of a 21st century church and community.  Dave desires to grow the faith community spiritually and missionally by reaching out to all residents:  children, youth, young adults, and adults, all races, ethnic groups and economic levels.  By partnering with other churches, business organizations, developers, social agencies and city leaders Nast-Trinity is a bright beacon of light and hope in the heart of Cincinnati.

Dave believes that the Kingdom of God is diverse and by acknowledging, affirming and activating the gifts of all God’s people, we are sharing in the love of Christ that transforms lives.  He personally invites you to come worship and be a special part of being, becoming, and building up the Body of Christ at Nast-Trinity UMC!
